: Re: What are the first things I should do with an idea? I have a lot of ideas for things I want to write, but I usually end up getting lost in a stream-of-consciousness and either lose interest
I will just share what I usually do whenever an idea sparks. I hope it works for you.
Just imagine they make a movie out of it. Personify your ideas with well known celebrity faces, and yeah you can possibly see a movie unfold. Either do this with celebrities or get yourself into the shoes of your character(s). To me, writing down ideas seems a bit hackneyed and at times- kills the magic in it. Voice recordings can also help, but it all depends on how well the idea flows out of your head in words. The only way to preserve your ideas and keep them fresh with their "wow" effect will be to keep them in your mind, and process them. Nurture them. See them materialize into pen and paper effortlessly once they mature.
Hope this helps. :)
