Lots of great answers here. One of the best examples of creative user manuals I've come across recently is this: jamhub.com/docs/JamHubOwnersManual_English.pdf They've done a great job writing for highly technical users who love the techy detail and don't want to be talked down to, and 'plug play' style users who just want to get going with the product but would be confused by the techy stuff.
