The title ought to summarize the theme of your book--in a nutshell.
The title needs to answer, or at least address the question of "what makes this book special?"
To take an example that just popped into my head, an alternate title for the "Wizard of Oz" might have been, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
It was the "wizard" that was supposed to make Dorothy's dreams come true (he didn't), but the real theme of the book was Dorothy's search for something "somewhere over the rainbow"--and just out of reach.
