a script is a document written for the actors on set. It contains only the dialogues. This allows the characters to learn when the lines should be spoken and in which order.
Screenplays are written to carry every detail of the set, such as the dialogues between characters, how to deliver it, instructions of where and how lighting should be and the surrounding atmosphere of the play.
