: Re: Tips for expanding my vocabulary? Looking back through my texts, I noticed that I often use a lot of the same words and resort to using quite a basic vocabulary. I was wondering if there
I'd recommend making use of Grammarly. It's a tool that recommends the words best fit for your purpose while keeping your initial meaning in-tact as well as corrects grammar and spelling mistakes.
That said, not everyone likes trusting services with which we are unfamiliar. In that case, I recommend simply using Google or Thesaurus to look up synonyms for what you desire to express to your readers.
With writing, though, the KISS method works best. ("Keep It Simple, Stupid!") The more you complicate matters, use technical or more advanced speech, and so forth, the less likely people are going to understand you. If they don't understand you, they won't care about your writing. If they don't care... do I need to continue?
Just write using the words you already know. If you want to find out if there is a simpler word than what you are using to express a thought, google for words with that meaning. If Google fails you, then go over to the ELU Stack Exchange and ask a question with the "Single-Word-Requests" tag. As long as you give sufficient information, people can give you the exact words you are looking for.
