I think one of the greatest disadvantages is, that the web is not considered to be a media for professional publishing. There are some great books published on the web (for example Butterbrickâ€™s Practical Typography) but most content cannot compete with printed books.

So no matter how much you know about your topic, if your website doesnâ€™t look professional, many readers could think your content isnâ€™t as good as something in a book.
