To be a novelist is to be a story teller.

Don't worry about the mechanics of how you tell the story until you have a story to tell. You can't know how you will write until you have something TO write.

You want to write thrillers, why? Do you have a hero who lives in your brain and is struggling to get out? Did you see a man leave a bag on a train and have been thinking ever since about all the possibilities of how, where and who? Did you overhear a snatch of conversation that sent your imagination spiraling backward and forwards in time to track the tale it fitted into? Did you see a woman in a cafe who just looked like she was planning a heist...

What's the story that's burning to get out of you?
