Finishing a First Draft is only the first step, and the easiest one in self publishing. I spent twice as much time editing as I do writing.
After editing there is a lot of Marketing work to do... I do mean a lot. It is during this step that you give out free chapters. Only after the book has been edited (Because you might change a lot more than you think during editing) and you have a release date. Unless you link your free chapter to the pre-order button for buying the whole thing, you will annoy people with the tease.
